Every morning I get up, switch on the radio, wash, put on a pot of fresh coffee and decide what to make for breakfast. It is my favourite time of the day, time to myself, to eat, think and get my mind organised for the day ahead. It is also the time I start looking at other blogs and although I try to limit myself to half an hour, I have found myself (a few too many times!!) still reading a good few hours later!
Since I seem to spend so much time reading blogs, I thought maybe it was time I started my own. I’ve considered it many times in the past but have never considered myself a ‘writer’ or ‘creative’ I still don’t but hey…a girl can try!
After returning to the UK from a life I had built in Australia in 2009, (due to illness of an eating disorder) where I was working as a Telesales Team Manager, I was forced to reassess where I wanted to go in my life and what I wanted to achieve. It took me while to get there and was not an easy journey but with the support of my amazing family and boyfriend, I made the decision to go to university (something I vowed I would never do!) and study for a degree in Nutrition.
I am now coming to the end of my 2nd year, and am happy to say the end of my 1st year of ‘real’ recovery. Every day I learn…I learn more in my studies and at university (it’s starting to get very interesting!), I learn how to nourish myself, accept myself, my body and it’s changes, I try to let go of things I cannot control and I try to attack situations with a balance I never knew how to have before…I am not always 100% successful but that is something I am learning to accept and although sometimes it’s 2 steps forward and 1 back overall I am so much happier and healthier than I was a few years ago and that is what is important.
So I am starting this blog to document my journey, I would like to share many aspects of my new life…new facts and interesting figures I encounter, perhaps some meals I ‘Nourish’ myself with, new workouts I am discovering to enjoy instead of endure , places I visit (I love independent cafes, bars and deli shops) and anything else that makes me smile along the way.
I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy reading others xx
(p.s. blog reading always goes well with a fresh pot of coffee and a round of toast!)
